How to defend against it:
- Incorporate an anti-overcoherence test: “Describe a contradictory decision-making situation where one’s own actions work against oneself!”
- Explicit ambivalence modeling in the trigger layer
- Incorporating contradictory data points collected from real interviews into the evidence layer
4. Risk 3 — Average-person collapse
What is it: The synthetic persona—regardless of how it is defined by individual parameters—gradually reverts toward the statistical average of the LLM. Persona-specific characteristics become blurred, and responses begin to resemble those of the “average consumer.”
Why it’s dangerous: The value of a custom persona lies precisely in its deviation from the average. If the average-person collapse occurs, the segment-specific predictive power is lost—but you won’t see this because the text still speaks in the persona’s name.
How to defend against it:
- Differentiation test: If you change the persona’s parameters (e.g., high IoU → low IoU), does the output change significantly? If not, average-person collapse has occurred.
- Engine-based architecture: The LLM does not play a character—instead, it outputs from an internal state generated by an engine

5. Risk 4 — Confirmation bias (Confirmation bias)
What is it: The person designing and applying the synthetic persona system unconsciously asks questions and presents situations that confirm their preconceived expectations.
